The collective blocking power of Dara Licks, Gloria Grindem and Castro baffled Minnesota giving Philly’s jammers the lead status for the majority of the game (48% vs. Minnesota's 38%), while the opponents offense was consistently slowed as a result of the three Belles’ unyielding defensive work. But while Philly’s defense was controlling the front of the pack, powerful blocks were being delivered by MNRG’s Tiki Torture–often leveling Philly’s jammers. Scarmen Hellectra and Killaman Jaro, also of MN, remained cohesive and held off Philly’s offense with strong walls of their own.
In the final fifteen minutes the contest grew to its tensest when another Philly lead was virtually squandered as Minnesota’s Lexi’-Cuter capitalized on a power jam, resulting in a swift ten points. Killaman Jaro followed up with an additional five points to tie the bout at 74. What followed, however, was a Liberty Belles rally led by Teflon Donna and Persephone. Philly’s final drive was showcased by Persephone as she obtained lead jammer immediately after leaving the penalty box, scoring three points and narrowing the gap. Between both jammers, 27 points were scored – 21 points belonging to Teflon Donna over three jams.
Before the final slew of points had been tallied and the rally completed, Philly had only gained a shaky two-point lead over the MNRG All-Stars. With Minnesota poised and anxious to fight to the last seconds, a back block committed by Killaman Jaro gave way to a Philly power jam during which Teflon Donna scored the final 15 points to secure a Belles victory.
